TDHCA My First Texas Home (MFTH)

Down payment and closing cost assistance combined with a 30-year fixed rate mortgage for first-time homebuyers in Texas. Provides up to 5% of the loan amount as a forgivable second-lien loan (forgiven if you stay in the home long enough), or as a non-forgivable second lien repaid when you sell or refinance. Eligible first mortgages include FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional. Run by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs through a network of approved lenders. Veterans and buyers in federally-targeted areas are not subject to the first-time buyer rule.
