MI Veteran Homestead Property Tax Exemption

Administered by Michigan Department of Treasury · michigan.gov

Michigan exempts 100% of property taxes for veterans with a total disability rating. Surviving spouses also eligible. Also includes reduced rates for 50%+ disabled veterans.

Eligibility requirements

  • MI veteran with 100% disability rating from VA
  • OR surviving spouse
  • Own and occupy home as primary residence
Insider tip

Michigan's 100% exemption applies even to veterans with TDIU (Total Disability Individual Unemployability) ratings — not just 100% scheduler ratings. Many eligible veterans don't apply.
