Free emergency food distribution through 21 regional food banks serving all 254 Texas counties via more than 2,400 food pantries, soup kitchens, and partner agencies. The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) supplies USDA commodity foods that food banks distribute alongside locally donated and purchased items. No application or appointment usually required - walk in to any partner pantry. Most pantries allow visits once per month. Find your nearest pantry at FeedingTexas.org or call 2-1-1.

Eligibility requirements

  • Texas residents at or below 185% FPL self-attested at the pantry (no documentation typically required for emergency food). Walk-in eligibility at most pantries. No citizenship requirement. No SSN required.
